news-96549 Wed, 09 Sep 2026 16:47:00 +0300 A Major Research Achievement by Laboratory Members in the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence Laboratory researchers Alkis Gounaris and George Kosteletos have published their study “Agentic AI and the Algorithm of Good” in AI, a high-impact international academic journal.

The Applied Philosophy Research Laboratory is delighted to congratulate its researchers Alkis Gounaris and George Kosteletos on the publication of their research article, “Agentic AI and the Algorithm of Good,” in AI, an international, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal.

The study addresses one of the most timely and challenging questions in contemporary philosophy of technology: the ontological, epistemological, and ethical issues arising from the development of agentic artificial intelligence and the possibility of orienting autonomous artificial systems towards the morally good.

Publication in a journal with an Impact Factor of 6.5 and a CiteScore of 7.3 represents a particularly significant scholarly achievement for the two authors and highlights the active contribution of the Laboratory’s researchers to the international debate on artificial intelligence and its ethical implications.

The article was published on 8 September 2026 and is available in open access:

This new public image honours the journal’s established tradition while reaffirming its enduring commitment to scholarly quality, academic integrity, and serious philosophical dialogue.

After more than ten years of uninterrupted publishing activity, Conatus – Journal of Philosophy is entering a new chapter in its development by renewing its public image while preserving and honouring the distinctive tradition it has established.

As part of this renewal, the journal has launched a redesigned website that is more visually refined, comprehensive, informative, and easier to navigate. The new website offers clearer access to information about the journal’s aims and scope, editorial policies, peer-review procedures, publication ethics, Editorial Board, indexing, and published issues.

The journal has also introduced a new logo. Its design deliberately retains recognisable elements of the emblematic and well-established logo that has accompanied Conatus throughout its development, thereby creating a visible link between the journal’s history and its evolving identity. Beginning with Volume 11, Issue 2 (2026), Conatus will also adopt a new cover design that reflects this renewed visual direction.

These changes represent neither a departure from the journal’s past nor a transformation of the principles that have guided it thus far. On the contrary, they express our determination to carry the identity and achievements of Conatus forward in a form that more fully reflects its present standing and future aspirations.

With a renewed public image, Conatus – Journal of Philosophy remains firmly committed to the values that have defined its presence in philosophical scholarship: academic quality and integrity, editorial independence, openness, rigorous peer review, and the promotion of serious and inclusive philosophical dialogue.

We warmly invite our readers, authors, reviewers, and members of the wider academic community to explore the journal’s renewed website and discover its new visual identity.
