The NKUA Applied Philosophy Research Laboratory has established a dynamic programme of international academic events, contributing to the advancement of scholarly dialogue and the development of international research networks in applied philosophy, ethics, bioethics, and related fields.
Each year, the Laboratory organizes two distinguished series of International Scientific Conferences, the World Bioethics Days Series, and the Eco-Eu Zēn International Conferences Series, bringing together leading scholars, researchers, and experts from Greece and around the world. These conferences are held both in Greece and at international venues abroad, fostering sustained academic exchange across disciplinary, institutional, and geographical boundaries. The Laboratory also organizes national scientific conferences, addressing issues of contemporary philosophical, ethical, and societal significance and promoting dialogue within the wider Greek academic community.
Alongside its conference programme, the Laboratory organizes the annual Summer School series Leadership: Virtues, Skills, Strategies, an international educational initiative dedicated to the philosophical and ethical dimensions of leadership. The Summer Schools bring together academics, professionals, and emerging scholars in an intellectually stimulating environment, examining leadership through the complementary perspectives of virtue, competence, and strategic action. Through lectures, seminars, workshops, and interdisciplinary discussion, the programme seeks to cultivate critical reflection and advance a responsible, ethically grounded understanding of leadership.
Through these initiatives, the Applied Philosophy Research Laboratory seeks to strengthen its role as a hub for international scholarly exchange, connecting philosophical inquiry with contemporary ethical challenges and fostering enduring collaborations among academic institutions and research communities worldwide.
