Upon invitation, Senior Researchers of the Laboratory visit secondary schools to deliver lectures and presentations across the full range of philosophical disciplines, with particular emphasis on applied ethics, bioethics, environmental ethics, and related contemporary issues. These activities aim to introduce students to philosophical inquiry, encourage critical reflection, and demonstrate the relevance of philosophy to everyday life and current social challenges. Dr Eleni Karamatziani is the staff member responsible for coordinating the Laboratory’s educational outreach initiatives.
In addition, the Laboratory has developed a digital toolkit of freely accessible online educational applications, including Philosophy Traces: Connect, Reflect, Experience. Philosophy Traces is available for free download on Android and Apple devices through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, respectively.
The Laboratory has also designed Sophie – Philosophy with Children for Wider Social Inclusion, a Bioethics course curriculum specifically intended for primary-school pupils. The curriculum of Sophie is offered to elementary schools upon request, and under the supervision of the Laboratory's staff.
Through these complementary initiatives, the Laboratory seeks to make philosophical education accessible to younger learners and to promote ethical awareness, inclusion, dialogue, and reflective thinking across different levels of education.
