The Laboratory promotes research across the full spectrum of philosophical inquiry, while maintaining a distinctive focus on Ethics, Metaethics, Applied Ethics, Bioethics, Political Philosophy, Environmental Ethics, Animal Ethics, Philosophy of Technology, and other contemporary areas in which philosophical reflection contributes to addressing complex social, scientific, and technological challenges. It supports both theoretical scholarship and empirically informed philosophical research, encouraging dialogue between philosophy and disciplines such as medicine, law, political science, economics, environmental studies, and the emerging sciences and technologies.
In addition to advancing research, the Laboratory plays a central role in supporting undergraduate and postgraduate education within the Department of Philosophy. It contributes to the development of innovative curricula, supervises and facilitates student research, and provides an academic environment that encourages critical thinking, intellectual independence, and methodological rigor.
