Paraskevi (Evi) Zacharia was born in Athens (Greece) on 11 November 1983. She spent her childhood in the city of Livadeia, a place well known in antiquity for its Oracle of Trophonius and the River of Erkina. After graduating from high school, she studied Classics (Ancient Greek & Latin) at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree in Classics in 2006, she began teaching, providing instruction and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students in various philosophical fields. At the same time, she pursued a two-year intensive program in Russian Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. From 2016 until 2025 she conducted her PhD research at Radboud University in Nijmegen, focusing on Vladimir Solov’yëv philosophy of love and its affinities with the Neoplatonic ideas of Proclus and Maximus the Confessor. During that period, she received several research fellowships, including the Erasmus Mundus (Higher School of Economics, 2018), Titus Brandsma Institute (Nijmegen, 2022-2025), Erasmus Collection Fellowship 2024 (Erasmus of Rotterdam Research Center, for the research topic: ‘Affinities between ‘Deification’ in St Jerome and Erasmus’ ‘Philosophia Christi’). In addition, she has contributed to the academic community through conference presentations taking place in Nijmegen, Groningen, Oxford, Budapest, Athens, Ioanina, Veroia, Slovakia, Krakow, Warsaw. She has authored articles on topics such as: Solov’yëv’s ideas on freedom, love, and Antichrist; the theology of St. Francis of Assisi in the light of Russian theology and philosophy; the concept of human perfection in Proclus’ Commentary on Alcibiades I; Russian mysticism and Philokalia. She is a member of several academic associations, including OIKOS, the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies, the International Orthodox Theological Association, and the Mystical Theology Network.
