MICHAEL IGOUMENIDIS

Michael Igoumenidis is an Associate Professor of Nursing Ethics at the Department of Nursing, University of Patras. He is a graduate of the Departments of Nursing, and Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology of the National and Kapodestrean University of Athens. He holds a master's degree (2003) and a doctorate (2008) in Bioethics from the University of Manchester, School of Law. He has worked as a researcher at the Center for Infectious Diseases Control and has collaborated in research projects with the National School of Public Health, the Department of Public Health Policy of the University of West Attica, the Department of Nursing of the National University of Athens and the University of Peloponnese. At the postgraduate level, he has taught at the Department of Nursing of the University of West Attica, the Cyprus University of Technology, the University of Peloponnese, the University of Patras and the Hellenic Open University. His research work includes numerous scientific publications in international journals, and presentations at international scientific conferences. He has participated in international and domestic collective volumes of bioethics and nursing interest, while his monograph "Basic Bioethics" is one of the main texts used in the teaching of relevant undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
